What is the Distribution Service and how does it work?
What makes a good Press Release Title?
Create a title headline that immediately conveys why your news is important. Avoid promotional sounding words, but do try to catch the reporter’s eye. What you say here determines whether the reader will read the rest of the release. Click here to see examples.
What should I put in the body of my Press Release?
A press release needs to be concise and to the point. The first paragraph should be a summary of your news, answering the ‘Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How’ within just a few sentences. The remainder of the release should expand upon the first paragraph giving important details, without fluff. When deciding whether you should submit your news, first make sure that it is newsworthy. Is it something that the public wants to know about? Is it something that journalists will want to write about? Something to note is that it often helps to relate your news to current events if possible. When writing your release, keep these things in mind:
Is your topic newsworthy? Make sure that you have a story of substance.
Does your audience know that the information is intended for them and that they should continue to read it?
Can you relate your news to any current events?
Have you written in a way that people can relate and connect?
Did you deal with the facts and avoid excessive use of adjectives and fancy language?
Did you make it as easy as possible for the media to do their jobs by putting *all* of the necessary information in the release?
Did you include detailed contact information for journalists to get in touch with you for additional information?
How long does it take to be distributed?
Your press release will be distributed on the morning of the date you select when filling out the order form. All press releases are distributed via email to our database of journalists and newspapers. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee that your release will be picked up as a story by any media source.
